FBO Represents the Family Directly
Traditionally, legal representation is retained on an "as needed" basis, and tends to separate the family's interests from the issue or controversy. This leaves independent professionals to handle problems which often become unnecessarily complex and inflated. This often leads to decisions and directions independent of family directives. The hired professional analyzes the issue based on his or her perspective and communicates only the results, good or bad, at the time of resolution. The family interests are thus removed from the decision making process.

FBO, under continuous interaction with the family and family enterprises, and acting as the family representative, integrates into the center of all family matters and concerns, creating consistency in decision-making and management.

How is This Accomplished?
FBO attends ongoing family meetings. We learn and personally upload family directives and priorities from senior family members and existing professionals of the family. This develops an understanding of the wants, needs, preferences and direction desired by a family and its enterprises, and allows FBO to manage complex family issues before they become problematic, guiding the family to a desired resolution.

Does FBO Replace Your Existing Family Professionals?
FBO does not replace existing attorneys, accountants, investment advisors or counselors of a family. FBO does become familiar with all matters involving the family and will often make recommendations in regard to their handling, including the retention of professionals specialized in a given field. Proper delegation and action toward resolution of a matter is FBO's hallmark and focus. FBO works with a highly credentialed group of professionals to help assure that the family's objectives and goals are met.
